The Jane Fonda Center for Adolescent Reproductive Health of Emory University, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics focuses on adolescent reproductive health research, development of training strategies, and program evaluation and development. It is located at the Emory West Campus, on Briarcliff Road, and is headed by Marion Howard, Ph.D., Professor. The Marion Howard Chair in Adolescent Reproductive Health was endowed by a gift to Emory University from Ms. Jane Fonda in 2001.  The endowment also has helped fund the Jane Fonda Center for Adolescent Reproductive Health of Emory University, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Dr. Howard developed the nationally recognized program, Postponing Sexual Involvement, which uses peer counselors and emphasizes abstinence. She has been a member of the faculty the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics since 1976 and was the director of Teen Services at Grady Memorial Hospital.  Ms. Sharon Nieb, MSW, is the program director of the Center.

Jane Fonda is a long-time activist in teen pregnancy prevention in Atlanta. In 1995 she established G-CAPP, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, and in 2000 she gave a generous endowment to Grady Health System for the Teen Service Program and Clinic.

The Jane Fonda Center has reached numerous people through education/training activities in the area of adolescent sexuality and reproductive health. The Center sponsors education/training sessions in Georgia on subjects ranging from the connection between sexual abuse and teen pregnancy to helping health workers become more aligned with institutional goals. One conference focused on sexual abuse in children and adolescents; 90% of the 75 physicians and other health care workers said the information provided would cause them to modify or change an aspect of their practice.  Several teacher training sessions have concentrated on helping youth resist negative media messages affecting their health and there is a new Jane Fonda Center/Grady Hospital high school curriculum that builds resistance skills to negative social and peer pressures. In addition, staff of the Jane Fonda Center have been invited to present or train in other states.
