Dr. Jessica Arluck,
Residency Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine. At Emory’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics we are fortunate to have a long history of dedication to teaching and mentorship. With more than forty percent of the gynecologists and obstetricians practicing in Georgia having received at least part of their education at Emory University School of Medicine, our residents leave our program as exceptional physicians, often accepted to prestigious fellowships and academic positions around the country.

Due in large part to the offerings of Emory School of Medicine and Emory Healthcare we have seen the continuous expansion of clinical and research faculty in our department. Our residents continue to benefit from this growth as they work with and are mentored by a wide-reaching group of specialists and sub-specialists. Our residency program is founded on a robust didactic education curriculum, varied clinical setting training experiences, and renowned faculty. We are proud to offer the best possible care for our patients and an exceptional level of residency training to develop outstanding leaders in gynecology and obstetrics.

We are a nationally recognized program dedicated to excellence in resident education. We are committed to attracting top-quality candidates that will contribute to a resident body that is scholastically distinguished, representative of diverse backgrounds, exemplifies professionalism and compassion, and always keeps the highest standards of care for our patients in mind. We incorporate novel educational methods that stimulate thought and enhance learning. Our residents benefit from our varied rotation training sites as well as the diverse patient population of metro Atlanta to optimize the training experience. In addition, our faculty, clinics, and laboratories support an environment that is rich in mentorship and extensive clinical and basic science research opportunities.

We are committed to creating an environment where residents are supported and challenged. The well-being of our residents is a priority that is fostered through a positive learning environment rich with support and mentorship. We strive to provide a program that fully encompasses the ACGME statement that “residency is an essential dimension of the transformation of the medical student to the independent practitioner along the continuum of medical education. It is physically, emotionally, and intellectually demanding, and requires longitudinally-concentrated effort on the part of the resident.”

Our residents’ growth into accomplished gynecology and obstetrics specialists begins from day one. Our commitment is reflected in the residents’ competencies and milestones to make critical decisions, effectively communicate, perform complicated surgical procedures, and expertly manage a wide range of women’s health issues.

We welcome your interest in our program and look forward to answering your questions regarding our residency program.

Warmest regards,

Jessica C. Arluck, MD
