Emory Clinic Gynecology and Obstetrics to Open Women’s Center at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital

Emory Clinic’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics is proud to announce the creation of Emory Women’s Center at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Emory Women’s Center will open in February 2016.

“We are excited to expand our practice to Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital and lead the creation of Emory Women’s Center,” said Ira Horowitz, MD, SM, John D. Thompson Professor and Chairman of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. “We look forward to enhancing access to our outstanding patient care, and we’re especially delighted to join with our colleagues from other departments to provide a multidisciplinary team approach to our patients.”

Faculty members from the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics will anchor Emory Women’s Center.

General obstetrician-gynecologists Suzanne Griffith, MD, and Mark Lachiewicz, MD, will provide routine women’s health services and minimally invasive surgical options to patients. Pregnant patients will be able to receive prenatal care at Emory Women’s Center, with deliveries continuing to occur at Emory University Hospital Midtown.

Generalist Mary Dolan, MD, MPH, who is a Certified Menopause Practitioner through the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) will open a specialty clinic focusing on the needs of the menopausal woman, with an emphasis on preventive care.

Gina Northington, MD, PhD, of the the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery division, will lead the expansion of urogynecology to Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital with a monthly clinic at the Emory Women’s Center.

Alan Gordon, MD, and Ira Horowitz, MD, SM will maintain weekly clinics to provide gynecologic oncology specialty care. Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital is already home to many providers from the Winship Cancer Institute, ensuring that cancer patients receive the latest cancer treatments available.

In addition to gynecologic services, the department has invited colorectal surgeons, breast surgeons, and experts in endocrinology, gastroenterology, and women’s cardiology to provide care in the same clinic space. This collaborative approach will allow patients to receive comprehensive care under one roof.

Martinuzzi and Woods Achieve Top Patient Satisfaction Scores

Each quarter, our providers have been recognized for scoring at or above the 90th percentile on Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys. Kurt Martinuzzi, MD, and Kalinda Woods, MD, maintained these high scores for every quarter of the past fiscal year. Dr. Martinuzzi and Dr. Woods were two of only 25 Emory Clinic providers to achieve this benchmark.
