Mary Dolan, MD, MPH, a general OB/GYN with Emory Clinic’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, has been named a Certified Menopause Practitioner by the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). With this new credential, Dr. Dolan becomes one of only eight NAMS-certified providers in the state of Georgia, and the second one at Emory Clinic, joining Penny Castellano, MD.
“I pursued this certification because I am interested in menopause and the care of older women,” said Dr. Dolan. “Women may live 30 to 40 percent of their lives after menopause, and there are preventive measures to optimize their health. It is important to me that patients are aware that they will get the most up-to-date information from a provider with this certification.”
NAMS is North America’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting women’s health and quality of life through an understanding of menopause and healthy aging. Those who hold the NAMS certification have demonstrated special interest and competency in the field of menopause.
In the past year, Dr. Dolan has also been elected as an executive board member of the Society for Academic Specialists in General Gynecology and Obstetrics (SASGOG) and was appointed to a committee on domestic violence and chronic disease by the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR).
