Mapping the G Drive

Mapping the G Drive will allow you to see the server as you see it from your office desktop. Follow these instructions to map the server.

Emory VPN is required to connect from off-campus.

Mapping the G Drive from Windows 7:

  1. Click on the Start Menu and click on the “Computer” icon.
  2. Windows Explorer will open. Next, click “Map Network Drive”\
  3. The Map Network Drive window will appear, choose a Drive letter (i.e. G).
  4. In the folder area, please put \\eu.emory.edu\SOM
  5. Next, check the box next to “Connect using different creditials”.
  6. Click the Finish button, it will prompt you for Credentials.
  7. For User Name, enter Emoryunivad\{USERID} (where {USERID} is your Emory NetID)
  8. For Password, please enter your Emory NetID password, click OK.
  9. This should connect you to the G Drive

Mapping the G Drive from Windows XP:

  1. Click on the Start Menu and click on the “My Computer” icon.
  2. Windows Explorer will open. Click on the “Tools” menu and choose “Map Network Drive”.
  3. The Map Network Drive window will appear, choose a Drive letter (i.e. G).
  4. In the Folder area, please put \\eu.emory.edu\SOM
  5. Next, click on the “different user name” link, this will prompt you for credentials.
  6. For User Name, enter Emoryunivad\{USERID} (where {USERID} is your Emory NetID)
  7. For Password, please enter your Emory NetID password, click OK.
  8. Click the “Finish” button, this should map the drive location.

Mapping the G Drive from Mac OSX:

  1. Open a new Finder Window
  2. Choose the “Go” menu and click “Connect to Server”
  3. For the Server Address, enter smb://eu.emory.edu/SOM
  4. Click Connect, it may or may not prompt you for credentials.
  5. If so, check the radio button for “registered user”, for name use Emoryunivad\{USERID} (where {USERID} is your Emory NetID), for password, enter your Emory NetID password. Click Connect. You should now have access.
